In a future where humanity is extinct, a lone robot crosses a ruined world ruled by evolved dolphins to recover the consciousness of the woman he loved.
His mission is not to survive but to retrieve a capsule holding Perseida's consciousness. To reach her he must cross deserts, wars and the remains of a civilization that has forgotten what it meant to be human.
