TALES OF GRIMWICKE — Chapter I
Ninety-one winters after something came up out of the river country, it returns: badger lords, vermin and a hard winter bear down on a peaceful farming village that is about to become a fortress.
Episode one of an ongoing dark fantasy series about talking animals, and not a children's show. The village of the Wicke has no wall because nothing has ever threatened it. The chapter runs from the last good harvest to the night twelve farmers walk into the woods, told in hindsight by the town's chronicler from a falling-apart book.
