Wild Wild East

Different world. Same chaos.

1920. Russia is shattered by civil war and famine. Arkady Zotov, an idealistic Red Army commissar, is ordered to requisition grain from starving villagers to feed starving cities – a job that is slowly breaking him. At a Buddhist monastery his unit seizes a golden Buddha, and he meets Aydash: a fierce young woman who has spent her entire life there disguised as a male monk. Meanwhile, out on the steppe, Green crash-lands – a charming alien who dreams of selling the planet on an intergalactic exchange. When Arkady's own men betray him and make off with everything – the grain, the Buddha, and Green's ship – the three are forced together to take back what's theirs. And, against their own better judgment, Arkady and Aydash begin to fall for each other. Then comes the terrible truth: it was Green who unwittingly led a cosmic landlord to Earth – a tyrant who means to turn the planet into his private estate and its people into slaves. To survive, Arkady must do the impossible: make peace with the men who betrayed him, forge an alliance with his sworn enemy – the White general Staden – and stop pretending he isn't in love. Together, Red and White, peasant and monk, human and alien, they ignite an uprising – for the Earth, for freedom, and for each other.
